Title Note

To be sure, this French trio has a formula: Lay down naughty spoken-word over Wire-y guitar and monotone bass, and then let it explode into a sardonic chorus that careens into day-glo synth fabulousness. In a strange way, the luridness and sarcastic observations lacing the verses recall the Streets' post-modern urban poetry but without raising issues beyond sex, girlfriends, and having sex with girlfriends. Were it not for how sheerly enjoyable REALITY CHECK becomes with each Killers-a-go-go middle-section, their self-aware playfulness could be construed as snooty. But by the time the disc is done you'll mostly be shaking your booty.
