Rather than sing along with it, or bop your head to it, you'll find that the band's languid, dreamy sound invites immersion. Although they are a sextet (Three guitarists! Count 'em! Three!), Drunk perform with such wonderful restraint and understatement that the intimacy of their music is never lost. Chief Drunkard Rick Alverson's thin plaintive tenor barely whispers out the melancholy tunes. Accordion, harmonica and little-bitty Casios wheeze out tender and pensive melodies. It's the perfect soundtrack for an endless, rainy afternoon.
