Entertainment Weekly (p.64) - "[T]his L.A.-based quartet pierces the gloom with winsome melodies and swelling, thunderous choruses." -- Grade: B+
Alternative Press (p.140) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he moodier moments are what ultimately make this album Phantom Planet's best. The title track eases you in with acoustic guitars and percussion, quietly creeping along until the strings come crashing in to greet the chorus hook....It's brilliant."
Phantom Planet: Alex Greenwald (vocals, guitar); Darren Robinson (guitar, background vocals); Sam Farrar (bass guitar, background vocals); Jeff Conrad (drums).
Just because they signed to the Fueled By Ramen label for RAISE THEY DEAD, don't assume that Phantom Planet has gone emo. Nothing could be further from the truth; instead, the chameleonic California rockers, who gave the film world their former drummer Jason Schwarzman and have dabbled in everything from garage rock to Beach Boys-influenced sunshine sounds, turn out some straight-up alterna-pop here. Catchy choruses, tight songcraft, and carefully crafted melodies are the order of the day, as Alex Greenwald's charismatic vocals cut a bold swath throughout.
