Title Note

As both a composer and the undisputed king of ragtime piano, Scott Joplin holds a unique place in history. He was one of the first to popularize the barroom sound of syncopated European music, essentially paving the way for the advent of jazz. This three-disc box set represents most of Joplin's recorded work. In addition to his best-known compositions, "Maple Leaf Rag" and "The Entertainer," among them, RAGTIME brims with walzes, melodic airs, and, of course, rags. There are any number of Joplin compilations on the market, but this nicely assembled set would be a fine addition to any collection.
