Annotation

In this story set in the village of Chelm (a fictional town often featured in Jewish folklore) the rather foolish townspeople set out to capture and keep the moon. The local carpenter attempts to build a ladder tall enough to reach the moon, the cook tries to lure the moon out of the sky with a pot of delicious soup, while a musician tries to play a song beautiful enough to persuade the moon to leave the sky. All of these plans fail but luckily there is one very wise girl in the town of Chelm and she knows just the way to capture the moon. Watercolor and colored pencil illustrations accompany the text.
