New Age Retailer (19, p.124) - "The trio creates a powerfully lulling effect with its unique artistry."
On QUIET FIRE flautist Gary Stroutsos draws on his devotion to Native American musical traditions while also remaining true to his work in the world fusion scene. Stroutsos's cedar flute-playing is mournful, quiet, and hauntingly beautiful, and there is something at the root of his melodies that evokes the feeling of embarking on a long spiritual journey.
Stroutsos is joined here by instrumentalists Will Clipman and William Eaton (Eaton employs his famously self-designed, hybrid stringed instruments such as the "koto-harp-guitar"). The overall sound simultaneously conjures atavistic states of being ("Future Primitive") and spacious Southwestern landscapes ("Stars Over Sedona") for a musical experience that soothes and quiets, while also pushing the listener's imagination to greater vistas.
