Title Note

Although the label calls for "global adventures in music," this is basically straight chill-out electronica with very little world influence -- easy listening for a post-rave generation. And there's nothing intrinsically wrong with that; a few of the tracks are good, like One Giant Leap's "Racing Away" or Howie B's "Hey Jack." Sadly, the rest are fairly nondescript, and Basement Jaxx's "Urban Haze" is little more than sketch that never really develops before fading away (presumable back into the haze). A different mix of the Professor Oz cut was far more effective on the same label's Dub Selector. The mind is rarely teased or stretched, which might ultimately be the idea, but for just listening pleasure rather than pure background, it leaves a lot to be desired. ~ Chris Nickson
