Quebec's musical heritage draws on a variety of traditions, including French and Celtic folk and European pop, and this well-selected collection will give outsiders a sense of the region's unique patchwork culture. Included are Annie Villeneuve (winner of Star Academie, the Quebecois version of American Idol), the world-flavored grooves of DobraCaracol, and singer-songwriter Florent Vollant, who sings in his native Montagnais language.
