Sony Special Products' Pure Country is a sampler of Doug Stone's country-pop recordings for Epic Records in the '90s. Where most volumes of Pure Country function as effective hits compilations, this disc only contains one big hit -- "A Jukebox with a Country Song" -- which makes it of less interest to its target audience of casual fans. Nevertheless, there is enough strong material here to make it worth its budget price for some budget-conscious listeners. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
