This beloved southern gangsta-rapper has already established a tradition of inventive beats and hard-hitting lyrics on his previous releases. Consequently, PROJECT ENGLISH, whose opening cut finds Juvenile confidently declaring "I told y'all I'd be back," is more a solidifying of position than a break for new ground. While many of the cuts here find Juvenile making his street roots apparent, there's enough of a celebratory atmosphere and funky southern feel to keep PROJECT ENGLISH from becoming the kind of bleak, existential offering so prevalent among Juvenile's peers. And as usual, there are intriguing sonic textures aplenty to accompany Juvenile's trademark blend of good humor and braggadocio.
