Title Note

Psychedlic rockers Magic Mushrooms Band's 1990 PROCESS OF ILLUMINATION features a cover of the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows" among its eight tracks.

Personnel: Garry Moonboot (vocals, guitar, percussion); Kim of Oz (vocals); Eddie (Bones) (guitar, slide guitar); (Play It Again) Sam (fiddle); Wayne Manor (bass guitar); Swordfish (drums, percussion).

On their 1990 album, PROCESS OF ILLUMINATION, U.K. psychedelicists the Magic Mushroom Band exhibit the duality of their spaced-out approach. On one hand, there are nods to the more genteel, pop-friendly psychedelia of the '60s, not only in their cover of the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows," but also in songs like "Burning Like the Sun" that revolve around pure pop hooks. At the same time, the Mushroom Band proves itself fully capable of diving headfirst into a more '70s-oriented space-rock sound, triangulating a course somewhere between Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, and Tangerine Dream, amid fuzzy guitars and twinkling synths.
