Title Note

This release bridges the gap stylistically between Phillips' immediate post-Genesis period, when he was still singing (or bringing in singers) occasionally, and playing progressive rock guitar, to the more serious, almost purely instrumental work of his subsequent career. These are suites and movements written and recorded with various purposes in mind from 1979 through the very early 1980s. The folkier and more deliberately archaic material sound at times like attempts at another "Geese and the Ghost," although nothing here is as developed as that recording, most of the material on this disc consisting of either solo guitar or guitar-and-Moog or guitar-and-drumbox performances. And there are no songs per se, no attempts at vocalizing. ~ Bruce Eder
