Three tracks produced with Reinhard Voigt (a pair on Speicher 7, one on the vinyl version of Total 5), along with remixes of Voigt's "Supertiel," Ferenc's "Yes Sir, I Can Hardcore," the Eternals' "Strange World," and Paul Nazca's "Emotion" would all make for a substantial assembly of tracks. Right at the tail end of the year, Mayer released this, his best solo 12" thus far. To be honest, there's nothing terribly unique about the A-side; it's a straight-ahead dancefloor track, possibly best described as acid neo-trance, with light guitar flicks, vaporous synths, and an all-important acid squiggle that enters two minutes in. Dissect the elements of the track enough -- the way they enter, overlap, disappear, reappear, exit -- and you'll realize that Mayer is applying his instincts as a DJ to his productions like no one else. "Amabile" is a softer and more sleek take on the alien shuffle-tech he and Voigt used to build Speicher 7's "Unter Null," with a similarly twirling keyboard pattern.
