Headline-grabbing rocker Courtney Love and music producer/writer DJ Milky have teamed up with artists Ai Yazawa and Misaho Kujiradou for this fantasy shojo manga (female-oriented, Japanese-influenced graphic novel) series. In volume one, Princess Ai, a beautiful, scantily clad young woman, arrives in Tokyo from some unknown place (possibly another planet), suffering from amnesia. The only clue to her identity is a heart-shaped box with uncanny powers. Her beautiful voice may bring her the money she needs to survive in the big, bad city, but it may also attract the attention of her mysterious foe, who is seeking to capture her and exact a terrible revenge. The text and black-and-white art are laid out in the traditional Japanese right-to-left orientation. The backgrounds are fairly simple, while the (exceptionally pretty) goth characters are illustrated in lush detail. Unsurprisingly, Princess Ai bears a strong resemblance to Courtney Love, who regards this character as her alter ego, and has broadly based the storyline on her own sojourn in Tokyo..
