De Rosa's debut, MEND, was one of the smartest, most rewarding guitar-based indie records of 2006, yet on their sophomore release, PREVENTION, De Rosa move away from the no-frills, almost lo-fi production of their debut and begin to experiment with synthetic instrumentation and pre-programmed beats. Yet the general atmosphere of De Rosa's work remains unchanged despite PREVENTION's radically different approach to production. The group still construct tight, pop-wise arrangements around Martin John Henry's subtle melodies, carefully considered lyrics, and heavily accented vocals, which might occasionally remind listeners of fellow Scots singers like Arab Strap's Aidan Moffet and the Delgados' Alun Woodward.
