This immensely enjoyable selection of recordings from the South African trumpeter's own label features Hugh Masekela and band accompanying a wide variety of singers and instrumentalists. Songs range from Fela-style jams like "Ahvuomo" and the R&B-flavored "Afrobeat Blues" to the almost tropical-sounding "Awe Mfana." Although Masekela himself makes few appearances here, this compelling set demonstrates his unerring good taste in his choice of collaborators.
