Title Note

Discovered after Warren Zevon's 2003 death by his son Jordan, these tracks are a well-selected sampling of demos and outtakes recorded in the early (i.e. pre-1980s) part of the beloved singer-songwriter's career. While the collection provides alternate versions of Zevon classics, including an almost-reggae-like rendition of "Werewolves of London" and a beautifully woeful take on "Carmelita," it also presents previous unreleased gems, most notably the spare, melancholy songs "Studebaker" and "The Rosarita Beach Cafe," both performed by Zevon with minimal accompaniment. These tracks alone are more than enough to delight aficionados of the charmingly odd performer, but PRELUDES also features a bonus disc with a revealing 2000 interview, making the set essential for any devoted fan.
