Drawing on some incredible special effects work, a good eye for detail, and some meticulously researched facts, this reconstruction of the last day of Pompeii is a real sight to behold. The city was destroyed by the explosion of mount Vesuvius, which erupted and engulfed the city in molten lava on August 24th, AD79. The day is reconstructed here, illustrating the devastating effect the volcano had on the city and its population--effectively wiping both from the globe. Jawdropping detail is deployed throughout, making this one of the most accurate accounts of what happened to Pompeii.
