The Chicago-born trumpeter Russell Gunn salutes one of his major inspirations on this album of Miles Davis tunes, which mostly features pieces from the iconic trumpeter's 1960s and '70s period. Together with his band, Electrik Butterfly, Gunn accentuates the funkier side of Davis's music, continuing the trumpeter's experiments with electronic effects and lending a fusion influence to cuts like "Eighty One" and "Blue in Green."
