Soothing and low-key, like environment-enriching background music, this recording is also musically intriguing. Sudha's PLANET LOVE combines the lush atmospheres of synthesizer-generated ambient music with gentle rhythms and vocal melodies that draw on traditional music from around the globe. The influence of Indian scales and motifs, Native American chants, and Celtic folk songs can be heard throughout, which each element blended smoothly into a readily accessible sound. There are no lyrics to distract from the atmospheric textures. The melodies are largely wordless vocalizing, creating a gauzy thread that extends across a web of percussion, programming, and various exotic instruments. PLANET LOVE is a winning combination of the global fusion, electronica, and new age genres.
