On PEOPLE LIKE PEOPLE LIKE PEOPLE LIKE US, Swedish rockers Backyard Babies have made their most flexible album yet, taking forays into a wide variety of heavy rock styles. Their melodic, edgy punk-based sound has always held room for the metal-inflected solos (so common amongst the Swedish rock vanguard) of lead guitarist Dregen, but this album sees them churning out poppier, more upbeat numbers as well, and even a couple of power ballads. But songs like "Blitzkrieg Loveshock" and "Dysfunctional Professional" still find BYB rocking it hard, heavy, and straight on.
