This 2000 recording is an inspired effort from singer and songwriter Joanne Shenandoah. Her voice soars like an eagle on all 12 selections and the accompanying music is a pleasant mixture of electronics (keyboards and samples), percussion, strings, lap steel guitar, mandolin, and gorgeous backing vocals.

Shenandoah's greatest gift is in translating Native American beliefs, history, and values into stunning musical compositions. Sung entirely in Oneida, PEACEMAKER'S JOURNEY transcends language and offers music that is truly universal. "All the Earth Will See" and "Aiionwatha Forgives" are delicate and tranquil; Shenandoah's vocals glide effortlessly over the backing tracks. Her voice is equally penetrating and melodious on "Aiionwatha Creates Wampum," an upbeat tune that features a countrified mandolin. Multi-instrumentalist Tom Wasinger's subtle accompaniment complements Shenandoah's voice with each passing phrase.
