Home: Laurie Wisefield (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, steel guitar, Oberheim synthesizer); Mick Stubbs (vocals, electric guitar, 12-string guitar, keyboards); Cliff Williams (vocals, bass guitar); Mick Cook (vocals, drums, percussion); Johnny (Willie) Weider (violin); Clive John (Mellotron, keyboards).
Not to be confused with the prominent 1990s American indie rock band of the same name, Home is an unfairly obscure British band that made a few masterly records in the early '70s behind the adept double leads of guitarists Mike Stubbs and Laurie Wisefield. This two-for-one disc collects both of their best records--PAUSE FOR A HOARSE HORSE and HOME--in one place with remastered sound. The former delicately balances sober post-psych and proto-prog with simultaneously expansive and measured songs, while the latter adds bits of country-rock's twang and harmony.
