Her Space Holiday is the musical moniker of singer-songwriter Marc Bianchi, whose wistful, well-crafted electro-pop has spanned six albums. THE PAST PRESENTS THE FUTURE (2005) is arguably Bianchi's most mature work to date; these meticulous compositions successfully blend early-1980s New Wave, lush symphonic pop, and the ambient indie electronica of contemporaries like Air.

Bianchi's lyrics and songwriting are confessional and emotive, yet he avoids the saccharine and maudlin by his use of bright, carefully tailored soundscapes. The resulting balance is a surprising one: THE PAST has the human intimacy of a singer-songwriter's album, yet its sophisticated sonic design should endear it to the most critical of headphone connoisseurs.
