Gary Moore Artist Snapshot:

The blues songwriter and guitarist Gary Moore, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, joined Thin Lizzy in 1977 at the request of his friend Phil Lynott. It proved to be a mutually beneficial move, as Moore contributed his guitar skills to the hugely successful BLACK ROSE album, and in return Lynott added vocals to Moore's 1979 hit single, "Parisienne Walkways." Moore's worldwide breakthrough came with the 1990 full-length, STILL GOT THE BLUES, which featured Moore's superb guitar work and gave new prominence to his confident vocals. The subsequent release of AFTER HOURS--featuring cameo appearances from B.B. King and Albert Collins--confirmed Moore's status as one of the U.K.'s most successful blues exports.

Title Note

A guitarist for all seasons, Gary Moore has been a hard-rock hero with Thin Lizzy, a jazz-rock adventurer with Colosseum II, and a sideman for everyone from Greg Lake to Jack Bruce. His own solo work, spotlighted here, encompasses blues, ballads, heavy rock, and more. OUT IN THE FIELDS concentrates mostly on Moore the rocker, and most of the songs find him either shredding in a heavy metal setting or taking larger-than-life musical strides across a stadium rock/AOR landscape, but his bluesy leanings can be heard on "Cold Day in Hell," and his mellow side comes out on "Still Got the Blues." Warning: you are about to enter a shredding zone!
