Detroit's Ted "the Nuge" Nugent is one of rock's greatest anomalies. Following his run with the Amboy Dukes, Nugent hit the peak of his fame in the mid-1970s playing a high-octane brand of screaming arena rock and putting on one of the most over-the-top stage shows ever. Yet in decidedly un-rock-&-roll fashion, Nugent has always been an avid outdoorsman, stridently opposed to drug use, and fiercely conservative in his politics. Love him or hate him, he's the one, the only, the Nuge.

OUT OF CONTROL is a 2-CD box set containing 34 tracks spanning Ted Nugent's entire solo career. It features previously unreleased, live and alternate tracks. Also included are a 36-page full-color booklet with photos and two essays--one by Rolling Stone writer David Wild and another by Ted Nugent.

Ted Nugent's 1993 two-disc box set, OUT OF CONTROL, is made up of hits and album tracks, as well as a few rarities. The set wisely focuses primarily on the Nuge's '60s and '70s output, only featuring a few tracks from his less stellar '80s period. All Nugent fans will be familiar with such meaty cuts as "Stranglehold" (which features some of Ted's best guitar work), "Free-for-All," "Cat Scratch Fever," "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang," and his early hit with the Amboy Dukes "Journey to the Center of Your Mind."

Such oft-overlooked album cuts like "Call of the Wild," "Stormtroopin'," "Hey Baby," "Hammerdown," "Homebound," and "Live It Up" finally get to shine in the spotlight, while the previously unreleased "Magic Party" and an alternate take of "Street Rats" are just a few of the rarities included. Also included is a 36-page booklet chock-full of classic photos and the Nuge's history. OUT OF CONTROL digs deeper than the single-disc GREAT GONZOS, with often explosive results.
