Publisher's note

ROCK & ROLL WOMAN GIVES ME THOSE ROCK & ROLL BLUES

Timid Yaya is the victim of every bully in school, but she has a secret kept even from herself: She has another personality named Nana, who is all too willing to kick butt. While nice-guy guitarist Moriyama begins a tentative romance with Yaya, the constant appearances of brash Nana reveal the truth about his would-be girlfriend. And soon Moriyama’s charismatic professional-musician friend Shôhei takes too much of an interest in Nana’s killer singing voice . . . and body! Can Nana resist the very man Yaya has idealized all her life?!

Annotation

Yaya continues to search for social acceptance while her alter ego Nana enforces her brand of justice in volume three of a humorous, soap opera-like, shojo manga. Every time shy schoolgirl Yaya gazes into a mirror, she becomes aggressive, revenge-seeking Nana. But while Nana knows Yaya exists, the reverse isn't true, and Yaya is frightened by her increasing series of blackouts. Moriyama, Yaya's crush, has discovered Yaya/Nana's secret and is having a tough time juggling the two personalities as well as coping with his jealousy of Shohei, a lecherous music promoter who wants to make Nana into a rock star. Meanwhile, Yaya and Nana have their hands full with Hano, the obsessive leader of Moriyama's all-girl fan club, who's trying to sabotage both personalities' relationship(s) with Moriyama. Appropriately for this high-school drama, pretty characters and great-looking clothes are the focus of the black-and-white art.
