Southern singer-songwriter J.J. Grey specializes in bluesy groovers that pack a surprising emotional punch. Unlike most bad luck- and good times-themed blues tunes, Grey's funky stomps are woven with personal narratives and a confessional twist. But Grey's intimacy doesn't prevent him and Mofro, his backing band, from kicking out the jams, which they do ferociously well on ORANGE BLOSSOMS. Soulful, sensitive, and satisfying, ORANGE BLOSSOMS finds Grey and Mofro making salt-of-the-earth blues-rock with a little something for everyone.
