Title Note

Seven Mary Three: Jason Ross, Jason Pollock, Giti Khalsa, Casey Daniel.

Additional personnel: Paul Smith (guitar, background vocals); Kevin McKendree (keyboards).

Producers: Tom Morris, Jason Pollack, Jason Ross.

Recorded at Ardent Studios, Memphis, Tennessee in February 1998 and Morrisound Recording, Tampa, Florida in March 1998.

Having staked a claim in the post-grunge clamor of the mid-nineties, Virginia's Seven Mary Three finds new room to breathe within hard-rock's often confining quarters on ORANGE AVE. Opening with the autobiographical "Peel," the album achieves a fine balance between raw power and gliding moments of lyrical poetry. Vocalist Jason Ross has abandoned his trademark growl for a calmer, smarter vocal style. On "Over your Shoulder" and "Flagship Elinor," he manages to echo Michael Stipe's wizened Southern edge while delivering tracks made for the heartland.

This is no mere pop album, however: ORANGE AVE. contains some soaring sonic experimentation, courtesy of guitarist Jason Pollock, who gracefully weaves serpentine, echo-laden harmonic lines all over the album's solid rock foundation. Elsewhere, the slow, sprawling groove of "Joliet" pulls the band in a more classic rock direction and serves to further deepen the crashing rock enigma that is Seven Mary Three.
