On his debut album, THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SEA, Israeli-born singer-songwriter Oren Lavie presents a set of gentle, elegant chamber-pop tunes. Clearly influenced by the revered British folk performer Nick Drake (see the BRYTER LAYTER-like "Her Morning Elegance"), Lavie also seems to be a kindred spirit of Eels' Mark Everett, putting him in fine alt-pop company.
