While Randy Owen's name may not be familiar to country fans, his voice certainly is. As the lead singer for the legendary four-piece rock-infused country act Alabama, Owen topped the Billboard country charts an astounding 32 times. On his debut solo album (released nearly 40 years into his career), he mixes a timeless sense of pop melody with a decidedly modern touch. "Like I Never Broke Her Heart" aches with a torch song flame that defies clich‚, while "Braid Her Hair," a heartbreaking ode to an ailing child, skirts the saccharine with a tender Willie Nelson-esque sincerity.
