The second album by California-based hip-hop trio One Block Radius makes a strong case for the group as an updating of early 1990s acts like Bell Biv Devoe and Toni Tony Tone, who mixed hip-hop, pop and R&B into a hybrid style dubbed new jack swing. One Block Radius' neo-jack swing is harder-edged and less sweet, befitting its musical climate, but songs like "Shoplifta" and "You Got Me" do a fine job of mixing hardcore hip-hop and pop hooks.
