On his fourth solo album, former D Generation singer Jesse Malin goes for something rather different from the usual covers album. Rather than stick to the songs that most inspired him as he was growing up--though tracks by the Ramones, the Lords of the New Church, the Clash, and Lou Reed are obvious nods to Malin's punk past--this 14-song set covers everything from Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" and Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking" through Jim Croce's "Operator" and Tom Waits's "I Hope I Don't Fall In Love" to the Hold Steady's "You Can Make Them Like You." ON YOUR SLEEVE is a unique and interesting take on the covers album.
