Title Note

The third album by AMERICAN IDOL alumni Clay Aiken betters his sophomore effort, A THOUSAND DIFFERENT WAYS, by playing to Aiken's strengths as a singer and performer as well as hanging together nicely overall. Where its predecessor made it sound as if he was casting around for inspiration (not least on that album's overload of cover songs), ON MY WAY HERE boasts original material that plants Aiken firmly, and comfortably, in adult-contemporary terrain.

Opener "On My Way Here," penned by One Republic's Ryan Tedder, is a poignant, piano-fueled ballad that speaks to how what we learn from our parents teaches us about love. The rest of the album has moments of rock ("Ashes") and light funk ("Everything I Don't Need"), but sticks mostly to smooth, heartfelt mid- or downtempo songs that showcase Aiken's expressive voice. The artist's legion of fans (known as "Claymates") will have much to love with this release.

Under the tutelage of producer Marc ‘Kipper’ Eldridge, Clay Aiken finally breaks out of his shell to deliver his best record to date.

It has been 5 years since Clay Aiken was runner-up to Ruben Studdard in the second season of American Idol. Since being propelled into the spotlight in 2003, Aiken has released 3 full length studio albums, including a Christmas CD, authored a New York Times best-selling book Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life along with Allison Glock, and has recently made his Broadway debut playing the role of Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot in January, 2008.

On My Way Here, released on the RCA label, is the singer’s 4th record and perhaps his most authoritative. The album recounts Aiken’s experiences, positive and negative, over the past 5 years. The title track, “On My Way Here”, was originally written by Ryan Tedder (One Republic) and immediately caught Aiken’s ear. It conveys the infinite trials and tribulations of growing older and depicts new challenges that arise as adults, a theme clearly relevant to Aiken’s recent past.

I adore Clay Aikens newest album, On My Way Here! It has a mixture of tempos and styles--such as a bluesy "Everything I Dont Need", a lilting country-Celtic "As Long As Were Here", and a classic slow love balled "Something About Us". But no matter which song it is youre listening to, Clays brilliant vocals and crystal-clear enunciation will wrap around you like a smooth-as-silk Belgian chocolate bar!

I was very anxious to hear this CD. I had heard it was all original songs and the songs were hand picked by Clay. Having one producer, and great songs mixed with Clays enticing voice makes this a very satisfying CD. Something for everyone and if youre like me you like more than one type of song. So I basically enjoy the entire CD. Well worth the listen. My recommendations are Everything I Dont Need written by Kipper and Ashes, Where I draw the Line, Lover All Alone ( written by Clay) and Sacrificial Love.

This is a collection of songs that showcase what Clay Aiken can really do with his voice. Some rockin , some ballads and mid and up tempo songs. GREAT ALBUM. Nobody can sing like Clay Aiken can. What a voice !!!
