Title Note

Nashville's Lambchop are the coal in the center of Music City's golden heart. The music that Kurt Wagner and company have been creating for well over a decade embodies the rough, cold feel of an early morning after a long, desperate night. Considering the national hangover circa 2008, it's not surprising that subtle political content pops up at regular intervals throughout OH (OHIO). Which is not to accuse Lambchop of going all protest-folk on us, either. The easy, tarnished gold of songs like "Slipped Dissolved and Loosed" actually has more in common with the tender masculine storytelling of early Kris Kristofferson or the weird-voiced Dylan of NASHVILLE SKYLINE or even the melancholic twang of 1970s Walker Brothers reunion albums. The entire album is a study in restraint, whether in Wagner's deep, limited croon or the way the guitars are satisfied to just whisper.
