Title Note

The sixth volume in this extremely popular series of hits compilations splits its time equally between undulating hip-hop and R&B grooves, and anthemic rockers. On the urban side, the first half of the disc offers heart-rending R&B from R. Kelly ("I Wish"), the sexy harmonies of Destiny's Child ("Independent Women Part I"), and others.

The second half of VOL. 6 plunges into a rock groove, with British phenomenon Coldplay's shimmering "Yellow," Creed's ubiquitous Pearl Jam-lite power ballad "With Arms Wide Open," and U2's grand, sweeping return to form "Beautiful Day" leading the charge. Things close out with post-grunge rockers Everclear, who are in an uncharacteristically humorous mode on "AM Radio" a tribute to what singer Art Alexakis's generation considers the early-to-mid 1970s golden age of pop music.
