On 2006's AND NOW THAT I'M IN YOUR SHADOW, prolific indie-rock performer Damien Jurado offers up another thoughtful set of songs. The spare, folk-like atmosphere that Jurado establishes here works wonderfully with his plaintive vocals and melancholy lyrics, as revealed on the delicate "Hoquiam" and the wistful "Denton, TX," which features resonant piano lines and beautiful harmony vocals by bandmate Jenna Conrad. For fans of like-minded artists such as Richard Buckner and Mark Kozelek, SHADOW will likely strike a chord.
