Title Note

BANDA EL RECODO was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album. It was also nominated for the 2003 Latin Grammy Award for Best Banda Album. "Las Vias Del Amor" was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song.

Banda El Recodo aren't exactly the new kids on the block (or for that matter, the New Kids On The Block) when it comes to Latin pop. Starting out in the '50s, this Mexican musical institution was knocking audiences dead when Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony were just gleams in their respective daddies' eyes. Though the group has obviously gone through major personnel changes over the years, things have largely been kept in the family, so that even decades down the road, on a latter-day release like NO ME SE RAJAR, the original spirit of the group is still alive. Sometimes the mariachi-like horn section sounds so impossibly clean and well executed that you'd swear you were hearing a digital simulation, but there's no question about the provenance or the emotive quality of the band's legendary harmony vocals; in that respect it's all strictly from the heart.
