One of the first releases on the label for new and emerging artists bankrolled by the social network website Myspace, Nico Vega's NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND is a dramatic take on female-led modern rock, somewhere between the metal-tinged goth rock of Evanescence and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' more angular, scrappy sound. Mono-named singer Aja has more than a little Karen O in her alternately piercing and guttural vocals, and the band expertly shifts through Interpol-like doomy neo-new-wave and Strokes-style rock and roll swagger. Highlights include the powerful, epic "Wooden Dolls."
