New wave revivalists the Rosebuds keep up the energy on their third album. NIGHT OF THE FURIES is less willfully retro than the band's early work, with the trio splitting their dance -pop tendencies off into one subset of songs spearheaded by the first single, "Get Up Get Out," and the giddy title track. As a result, the rest of the album is surprisingly mature and subtle, more in keeping with the gentle BIRDS MAKE GOOD NEIGHBORS. The combination makes for a fairly straightforward, yet consistently enjoyable record.
