On 2008's NIGHT ETERNAL, Portugal's preeminent black-metal act Moonspell presents a gloriously dramatic set of goth-leaning songs. Working in the fantastical vein of Cradle of Filth, the ensemble, led by singer Fernando Ribeiro, aims for dark Wagnerian grandeur on songs such as the title track and "Scorpion Flower," reinforcing its status as a popular European metal band.
