In the late 1970s, Stephen Apfelbaum founded Stone Prairie Farm in southern Wisconsin in an effort to live off the land in ideal harmony with nature. This is the story of how he eventually allowed the prairie to reclaim the farmland and become a thriving ecosystem. In the process, he gains closer contact with his neighboring community of humans, many of whom take part in and are inspired by his experience.
