Title Note

Having added a bassist but retaining their essential post-twee, Deerhoof-inspired noise quirk, Cryptacize follow up their debut, DIG THAT TREASURE, a mere year later with MYTHOMANIA. There's no remarkable difference, but the formula (hushed female vocals, lo-fi lead surf guitar, playful marching-band drums, and cheery synths) still exudes similar charms. "Blue Tears" benefits most noticeably from the addition of bassist Aaron Olson, who provides urgent giddy-up and fills in the gaps between Nedelle Torrisi and Chris Cohen's alternating micro-riffs. MYTHOMANIA may not create a legend, but it does solidify Cryptacize as a dependable staple of late-2000s indie pop.
