Steven Halpern Artist Snapshot:

Steven Halpern has been producing and recording music since the 1970s, and pioneered the study and use of sound for healing. His first big release, 1975's SPECTRUM SUITE, helped launch New Age music. Halpern creates music that taps into the body's own innate healing abilities. His recordings fall into several categories: soothing "relaxation response" albums featuring synthesizers and heart-beat-paced rhythms, music with subliminal suggestion, and therapeutic music specifically designed to "tune" the nervous system. He continues to lecture, perform, and release albums at a prolific rate.

Title Note

If healing had a sound, what would it be? Gentle, slow rhythms no faster than a human heartbeat. Soft chimes, flutes, harp, and keyboards, with lots of space between notes. No melodic tension. Steven Halpern designs his music to induce the relaxation response necessary for deep healing. This collection, alongside CHAKRA SUITE, represents the core of his healing music repertoire. The bulk of the songs set stark Grand piano and electric piano tones against shimmering silence although other non-intrusive sounds surface occasionally. Sustained synthesizer chords create emotional stirrings in "Communion." "Harp and Soul" showcases the celestial sound of the title instrument in a cascading melody. "Chakra Balancing" condenses the above-mentioned "Suite" into a 13-minute attunement for the energetic body. MUSIC FOR SOUND HEALING is a treat for the nervous system, and an essential work in the field of restorative music.
