The Mouse On Mars member Jan St. Werner's side project Lithops is a repository for a host of ideas and explorations that didn't fit into his main band's soundscapes. More adventurous than Mouse On Mars but less abrasive than Lithops's previous SCRYPT set, MOUND MAGNET's whole is greater than its parts, which include but aren't limited to the chopped-up funk of "Vortext," the sonic digressions of Harpoon Point," and the grinding layers of "Cephalopod."
