Webb Wilder's been turning out his quirky but roots-conscious brand of country-rock since the mid-1980s, and 2009's MORE LIKE ME finds him still going strong. The album is a combination of originals and well-chosen covers like Jim Ford's "Ju Ju Man" and the Larry Williams-via-Rolling Stones R&B jumper "She Said Yeah." With a winning mix of honky-tonk, greasy roots-rock, and bluesy soul, Wilder delivers an effective reminder of what the overused umbrella term "Americana" can really mean.
