Jeremy Enigk Artist Snapshot:

In two separate stints in the 1990s, Jeremy Enigk fronted the Seattle quartet Sunny Day Real Estate and helped popularize both emo itself and specifically the genre's expressive vocal style. After a conversion to Christianity and during a band hiatus in 1996, Enigk released the first of several albums on Sub Pop and his own Lewis Hollow records that redefined his sound. While his octave-spanning vocal range remained his signature, his solo work foregrounded more subdued arrangements and a more mature aesthetic than his previous band's more high-octane output.

Title Note

Personnel: Jeremy Enigk (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards, bass guitar); Josh Myers (vocals, guitar, mandolin, keyboards); Nine Myers (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Billy Dolan (guitar); Coral Sepulveda, Rachael Snow, Rebecca Lowe, Adrianna Hulscher (violin); Nathan Medina, Eileen Swanson (viola); Jenna Conrad, Kevin Krentz (cello); Joe Skyward, Nick Macri (bass guitar); Kaanan Tupper, Matt Johnson (drums); Jason Bringle (drum programming).

As the leader of Sunny Day Real Estate in the 1990s, Jeremy Enigk basically invented emo, both in form and content. His solo albums have been commercially overshadowed by those who have taken the Sunny Day Real Estate template and run with it, but the Seattle native continues his string of high quality albums with THE MISSING LINK. Highlights include the powerful "Oh John" and the epic "River To Sea."

TOWER.COM REVIEW

Album Review

Enighk's biggest claim to fame is his involvement with the band Sunny Day, Real Estate who released five albums from 1993 to 200. The singing style he used in this band is now widespread among current emo vocalists though Enighk has sought to distance himself from these type of bands.

Jeremy Enigk returns with the quick follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed "World Waits" which features brand new material along "World Waits."
