Rolling Stone (p.64) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he transparency of the sound totally changes the way Harris sings -- it softens his sometimes strident vocal tone and encourages him to phrase in shrugs rather than declarative shouts."

Best known for his collaborations with jazz/pop star Norah Jones, New York City-based singer/songwriter Jesse Harris seems eager to move out from Jones's considerable shadow on 2006's MINERAL. Backing is provided only by multi-instrumentalist Larry Goldings and percussionist Kenny Wollesen, and neither Jones nor any other high-profile guests appear on the album. Positioning himself front and center, Harris offers up a spare set of laid-back pop, with his plaintive singing often supported by little more than an acoustic guitar, vibes, and delicate snare work, as on the dreamy "Somewhere Down the Road." Also featuring a breezy cover of the traditional tune "Corrina Corrina" and two gently chiming instrumentals, the record highlights Harris's knack for establishing amiable, easy-going pop moods.
