After the release of 2005's New York City tribute album, BLEEDING LIGHT, Jon DeRosa, leader and sole continuous member of the Brooklyn avant-pop collective Aarktica, moved out to Southern California and brought with him his simultaneously swirling and minimalist compositional bent. The result of this relocation is MATCHLESS YEARS, a collection of easy-on-the-ears experimental confections that marry DeRosa's dark approach with a sun-kissed SoCal lightness. Both somber and sunny, MATCHLESS YEARS is the aural equivalent of a noir film reel exposed to the sun.
