Title Note

One of the most prolific artists of his generation, John Dwyer takes the avant-garage sensibilities of Coachwhips and Pink & Brown and applies them to his more--initially, at least--folk rock outfit, OCS. That band morphed into Thee Oh Seas and on their second full-length for Tomlab Records, THE MASTER BEDROOM IS WORTH SPENDING A NIGHT IN, the quartet reveal their roots in both the San Francisco freak-folk and Providence noise scenes. The vocals here--with Brigid Dawson adding harmonies that recall West Coast legends Grace Slick and Exene Cervenka in equal measure--add an element of sweetness in a maelstrom of avant-garage clatter.

One of the most prolific artists of his generation, John Dwyer takes the tweaked sensibilities of Coachwhips and Pink & Brown and applies them to his more folk-rock-oriented outfit, OCS. The latter gradually morphed into Thee Oh Sees, and on their second full-length for Tomlab Records, THE MASTER BEDROOM IS WORTH SPENDING A NIGHT IN, the quartet reveal their roots in both the San Francisco freak-folk and Providence noise scenes. The harmonized vocals with Brigid Dawson pit the singers as the brown acid answer to Billy Childish and Holly Golightly and add an element of sweetness in the maelstrom of avant-garage clatter.
